In the last few years the New Jersey Turnpike Authority has untaken a mammoth initiative. Highlighting all the good that is New Jersey by renovating the Garden State Parkway rest areas to honor the born and bred stars who come from the Garden State. Presently, the former Atlantic City rest area has been reborn at the Frank Sinatra plaza. One of my favorite stops on my frequent travels up and down the parkway has been the former Cheesequake plaza, now renamed after Jon Bon Jovi. Other dignitaries added along this route are activists and poets. Finally, the Commissioners have decided to shine the Hollywood spotlight on the Garden State Parkway Oceanview rest area. Movie Icon Bruce Willis who grew up in Carney's Point and spent many summers enjoying and working in Wildwood and other Jersey Shore locales is being honored. The vote, in conjunction with a request by The New Jersey Hall Of Fame was approved on February 27th. As with the other honorees, the rest area will feature mementos from Willis' life and career. The exact date for the renaming hasn't been scheduled yet, but officials expect it to be before April 15th. So get ready and Yippy Ki-Yay mo-fo's!"
