Remember the days of the original WAWA? Deli meat, fresh rolls of your choice in huge baskets by the meat counter. Remember self-pour glass coffee pots on the individual burners?" NO public restrooms, NO adjoining gas pumps. NO one stop service?? One of the oldest WAWA stores of the early model will be torn down to make way for the "new". The new 21st Century WAWA's emphasizing larger stores and fuel islands for the ultra convenience experience has announced an upgrade for the Ramblewood section in Salem County. The new superstore will replace the old original store location at the intersections of Routes 40 and 77 in Upper Pittsgrove. Construction is targeted to begin in early 2025 and take up to 18 months to completion. According to Duncan Prime, a Moorestown attorney representing WAWA, construction is pending approvals on various permits. Members of the Joint Land Use Board voted unanimously to advance the project on February 15th. Nostalgic customers at this location have a short time left before the store officially closes for demolition.
