The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is closing a portion of Higbee Beach in Cape May for a $37.5 restoration project. The ecological restoration project is expected to begin in February. The upcoming project, which is intending to improve wildlife habitats and tidal flow to the marshes will keep a 428-acre section of the protected beach closed until December 2026. Higbee rests on an 1,160-acre nature preserve along the Delaware Bay in Lower Twp. The secluded spot has been favored to nudists through the years. I have never seen it for myself but have heard stories and experiences from listeners since my arrival here in 1990. I maintain it would not be a treat for anyone to see me (naked) at the party! No worries, as I will be able to keep my clothes on for the new trail network and wildlife viewing platforms upon completion of the project.
