New Jersey is preparing for a potential nor'easter that could bring heavy rain and strong winds starting Wednesday night (October 29) into Thursday (October 30). The National Weather Service forecasts that the storm could impact the region with gusts up to 50 mph and rainfall totals of one to two inches. The Jersey Shore, already affected by beach erosion from a previous storm, is particularly vulnerable to coastal flooding.
Forecasters are monitoring two possible tracks for the storm. A coastal track could increase the threat of wind and flooding, while an inland track might lessen the impact. The storm is expected to strengthen as it moves northward, with the heaviest rainfall likely on Thursday into Thursday night.
The storm is anticipated to clear by Halloween night (Friday, October 31), allowing for evening festivities, although gusty winds may linger. Temperatures are expected to remain cool, with highs in the 50s.
NJ.com reports that the weather ahead of the storm will be calm, with dry conditions and temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. As the storm approaches, cloud cover will increase, and light rain showers may begin along the coast.
Residents are advised to stay informed about the storm's development and prepare for potential impacts, especially in areas prone to flooding.
