Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) will hold a large-scale emergency drill on Saturday (May 17) from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This triennial exercise, mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), is designed to test and improve emergency response procedures for potential aircraft incidents. The drill will involve airport staff, as well as federal, state, county, and local authorities.

According to the South Jersey Transportation Authority, the exercise will include simulated scenarios with actors portraying accident victims, emergency vehicles, and responders in full gear. Despite the visible activity, the airport will remain fully operational, ensuring that flights and pickups proceed without disruption.

Tim Kroll, ACY Airport Director, emphasized the importance of the drill, stating, "This exercise is critical to ensuring our preparedness in the unlikely event of a major emergency." He also expressed gratitude for the community's cooperation during this vital safety initiative.

Residents and motorists in the area, especially near Tilton Road and the NAFEC/airport circle, may notice increased emergency vehicle activity and simulated smoke. However, authorities assure the public that these are part of the exercise and not a cause for alarm.
