An Atlantic City man, Anthony Spina, 31, faces charges of criminal mischief and conspiracy after allegedly using a drone to drop dye packs into swimming pools during the summer of 2023. The dye, known as Sea Dye, turned pool water a greenish yellow, causing alarm and damage. The incidents occurred between June 1 and September 1, 2023, affecting both residential and commercial pools, including a condominium complex in Atlantic City.

Authorities used tracking software to link Spina to the drone flights, leading to the seizure of at least one drone and several digital devices. According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Spina conspired with another individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, to carry out these acts.

The prosecutors reported that the dyeing incidents resulted in over $2,000 in damages. Spina's brother, Patrick Spina IV, was previously charged in September 2023 for similar offenses. Patrick is seeking pretrial intervention, a program that allows first-time offenders to avoid prosecution by meeting certain conditions.

The investigation continues as authorities search for additional victims affected by the drone activities.
